How do we judge the situation?

The development and engineering of technical solutions demand a close cooperation of experts from different technical disciplines. They need to be able to think theoretically through the problem and then to develop a common understanding through talking to each other.
As they have a different education and experiences their mind and language differ. Each expert has individual models and his approach is based on specific assumptions, which are normally not articulated in today’s business environment.

Without knowing these assumptions understanding is rather unlikely, critical deviations in the approach chosen are not recognized. The result: Misunderstanding happens frequently without being recognized early on. This means already in the design phase the basis for time delays and overspending is built into the project.
